After an extended absence from the site, I'm back to bring you another installment of Awesomeness. The Fourth of July is quickly approaching. This weekend is sure to be filled with barbecues, camping, and family, none of which you would ever think twice about engaging in. Can you say the same thing about fireworks though? Fireworks are fun and exciting to the average person, but have you ever considered what they might do to combat veterans? This article highlights what fireworks can do, and the simple solution emerging to help spread awareness about it.

These signs are emerging in neighborhoods across the country. Do not take this as encouragement to ban all loud booming fireworks, but considering the only reason you can light them off in the first place, is thanks to our veterans, it doesn't seem like too much to ask to tone it down a bit. At the very least, if you see one of these signs in your neighborhood, you'll hopefully make an effort to find another place to light them. You could even knock on their door and ask if it would be too bothersome. I found a similar sign on amazon that you could purchase for a loved one or neighbor. Check out this video for a more in depth perspective on this matter.

Veterans have sacrificed enough and should be able to enjoy the Fourth of July as much as anyone else. Don't forget to share your awesome finds in the group, and share your thoughts with us below.

Now that I'm looking at this I'm surprised with myself for not thinking about it before now, because it's such a good idea. What you're looking at here is a first aid kit assembled inside a fishing tackle box. A place for everything, everything has its place. The last thing you would want to happen is to need a life saving essential in a first aid kit, and then be unable to find it because it's in a large single compartment with 100+ other things. Clearly not the kind of kit you would take on a day hike with you, but it would be pretty handy in an emergency or disaster to just grab it and go.

Use this list below as a template to make your own. Even if you may not think it necessary to have the same number of essential oils as this person, it still is a pretty complete list.

You may ask why not use any standard compartmentalized box, but they address that in the original article above, essentially saying the tackle box was much more durable than other options. This is the tackle box here on amazon for $50, when the writer in the article spent $60 on theirs, but really any would do. Today's Awesomeness comes from a post shared on our Facebook page! This video of a man saving a dog's life is going viral across the internet with over 2.5 million views on YouTube, and counting. There are many complaints about the young woman being annoying and getting in the way but honestly, I don't know if I would be any less hysterical if it were my dog. It was just lucky that man was there to step up and help.

If you ever needed inspiration to learn CPR for animals this is it. Check out the video below, and don't forget to share your awesome finds with us here at the revolution!

Don't let anyone tell you a can is just a can, especially after you read today's Awesomeness. If you're like me, you don't eat that much in the way of canned goods, so you may have to make an actual effort to do so after this. But in any case, you probably didn't think twice about recycling that soup can before now, once you learn about these survival uses for tin cans, you'll be saving every one.

From the average food or water container to the improvised camp stove, you can even make a fishing lure and a cutting tool if you so desired. See all the other uses this article lists for the average can at the original source above, and feel free to add any of your own ideas below!

Well it's officially summer, which means it's also officially mosquito season. I can personally vouch for the inadequacy of most popular bug sprays, because I can use half a bottle and still get eaten alive. With all the caution that surrounds anything with a high concentration of Deet, people want natural alternatives to discourage mosquitoes from hanging around their yard. That's why for today's Awesomeness I'm bringing you this article that describes 31 different plants that help repel mosquitoes.

From Basil and Catnip to Mint and Rosemary, some of these plants are not only decorative, but also edible. I will definitely be adding some of these to my garden next year. Every bit of resistance helps. Check out the full list of plants at the original source above, and don't forget to submit your own awesome finds in the group!

Summer is here, school is out, vacation season is upon us. Say what you want about being a tourist and all the cliche vacation destinations, but some of the most fond childhood memories most people have are of weekend getaways. How much more enjoyable would those memories be if they didn't involve your parents being stressed out about the cost of the hotel and all the accompanying expenses. That's why for today's Awesomeness, I'm bringing you these 10 ways to save money on road trips to make this summer the best one yet!

Bringing your own food is probably one of the biggest money savers, so you're not stopping for fast food all day every day. Using cash instead of relying on credit cards can also prevent you from overspending, since you're likely to be more careful handing it over than swiping a card. See all the other tips at the original source above, and keep sending in your awesome finds!

I think you would be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't tried venison, at least where I'm from. Can you say the same thing about squirrel, bear, or grouse? Who even knows what a grouse looks like? (It's a bird by the way). I think the resounding answer would be no, because they aren't something you can typically walk into a grocery store to buy. Most of these less popular meat choices would only be last resort to the general population. If it came to that, would you know what to do with a rabbit? Maybe, maybe not. That's why for today's Awesomeness, I'm bringing you this website full of wildlife recipes along with tips about cleaning and cooking them! Time to try all those proteins you've never had before!

Even if you're not excited to use any of these right away, I think it's still valuable information to expose yourself to. Have you tried anything on that site before? Did you like it or would you do something different next time? Share your thoughts below!

Are you really going to throw that shirt out because the button came off? That sounds ridiculous when you read it, but there are plenty of people who would do so. What you may consider pretty typical and essential life skills, are becoming less common in the general populace. Check out this pretty detailed list of basic skills everyone should know. Make sure you know them all well, and then start teaching them to your kids and friends. They may not always be able to rely on their smartphones to get them out of distress.

Could you still do a load of laundry if the power went out? Could you perform CPR or the Heimlich if need be? I've personally known multiple people who don't even know how to jump start a car. Don't be helpless and don't let your kids grow into helpless adults. See all the details at the original source above, and keep sending in your awesome finds to the group
